So i was hooking my MaxStepper up in a CNC system. When wiring the controler for it to run my machine manually as well, I mixed up two of my wires of my power supply to the MaxStepper. I took a reading with my voltmeter of the input voltage into the max stepper: 26V. It has now yet to work. It is receiving the 12V now, but I fear that the worst has happened.I keep geting "COMM ERROR!!" on my port setup and my LEDs no longer work. Is there any way I can check to see if it can still be saved? IC pin out? Replacement IC? Thanks!

Austin,
You may have simply fried the voltage regulator. To try, go to your local electronics store and get another 7805 5v regulator to replace exactly as the one on your board.

It's a cheap start to the fix.

Radio Shack has them and they run around $3.

Hey Austin, check to see if you have 5 volts out the other end of the regulator. If not you need a regulator. I think those 5v regulators can take up to 32v but I can't remember for sure.

Thank you all for the support. I measured across the voltage regulator and unfortunately, I am recieving 5V into the IC. Any other suggestions? Can I buy a new main programable IC just by itself?

Check all your solder joints and double check all other connections. Did you assemble the kit or purchase the assembled and tested Max? Kelly will sell you another chip if need be.

I double checked all of the connections and still nothing. :-( The kit cam assembled and it worked fin when in the wall plug, but i tried an alternate voltage source and now I am stuck. So I know that it must be the chip. How would I go about getting another chip?
