Hi, Is there any way that I can see what line of code is being cut when I have disabled the position updates etc? Is there also some way of inserting a comment into the code, so that when I ahve instructed the machine to go to tool change, a line tells me what tool to insert next? Thanks. Colin |

Hey Colin, I was going to run a plot today at my shop but didn't get a chance to. It runs on a LPT port still. My home set up is on MaxStepper. You can add a comment at the end of a line with (), for example G01X1Y2(1/4" radius). When it stops for the tool change I think it will display the line just above the motor enable/disable button. |

Hi Stan, Thanks for that. Will give it a try. I am also going to get MaxStepper soon so no doubt will have some questions on that as well, looking forward to it. I like the idea of being able to use a computer for a few different things at a time! Colin |

Yeah it's another world when you don't have to worry about something running and throwing off a plot. I even did some video on a webcam while Max and KCam ran. I'm running XP Pro, I'm not sure how other OS's will handle it. I'm pushing things as part of the beta testing so I can relate to any questions. |

HI Stan, I use XP Pro as well, so hopefully similar results. I am really looking forward to getting good 'solid' movement. Do you have a link to the video you took? As another aside, do you reckon beefing up my power supply would also assist smoother running? I'm running motors that need about 2.5Amps at 6 volt, powered by a 13.8 volt 15 amps supply. Thanks. Hey Colin, I didn't record the video, I was just experimenting. I will do so as soon as I get some time. I prefer analog power supplies, but your supply should be fine. If possible I would put together a 24v supply, that voltage seems to get along with alot of steppers and drivers. Just figure your current draw to supply X&Y running constant. |
