I have tried 2 times to run KCAM using a MMX 233mhz win98 PC (Aopen Mother board). Each time I had to do a complete format of C drive and re-install of Windows. Windows wouldn't run after installing KCAM. I gave up using this PC but was wondering if anyone could venture a guess as to why this is. I'm thinking the MMX technology is the problem.

We no longer talk in megahertz, sounds like you need to start thinking in gigahertz 2.0 or higher . I've been able to put together recycled parts computers for under 200.00 ,just think pentium p4 2.0 gig for $20.00 case for $80.00 with power supply 80 gig hard drive for $15.00 and your off and running .I use dell gx 280 case cheap and plenty of them.

didnt they run windows 3.1 and windows 95 on that system? if thats what your running then your running 16 bit OS and dat aint copatable with Kcam I dont think..ohh..I see that your running win98..sorry.. how much ram do you run in that system? Kcam is very processer intensive so it may not be locking up but running REAL slow(Kcam) I wouldnt run Kcam on anything less than a 2.0 GHZ with 2 gigs of ram. and XP seems to run it the best.

I still have my old Compaq Armada 1750 laptop running a Pent II 333mHz MMX chip with Win 98 second edition and it still works just fine. I have since moved on to a faster computer with win XP and now run MaxStepper, but I have never had a problem with this set up. The laptop also has an older version of Kcam so I am not sure if any of the current changes would effect how it works with win 98.

I think that if the KCam installation is causing the system to crash, it's a DLL or OCX problem. Did you install the KCam Win98 Patch?
