Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a program to rotate a g-code file and generate accurate code for a new position. I have several files that I use frequently and when cutting from a sheet. I could minmize my scrap if I could "nest" them together, but I would mean having to rotate them to accomplish that. Expensive nesting programs have this option but they are way out of my budget. Any thoughts ?
Thanks, Wayne

Hey Wayne, I work with CorelDraw and when I need to do a bunch of parts I just do my nesting on the page. It's kinda tricky to lay them out so they cut in a organized manner but not to hard.

Hi Wayne,

Here is what I do if I want to rotate some nested parts. This requires that you have some type of CAD program--I use AutoCad.

1. Rotate and nest each individual pattern in the CAD program.

2. Save the CAD program.

3. Erase all but one of the patterns and generate a dxf file.

4. Go back to the saved CAD program and erase all but one (different one). Generate another dxf file.

5. Repeat until all patterns have been saved as a dxf.

6. Convert the dxf files into G-Code. Copy and paste the individual G-Code files into one master program. This will then force the cutting process to do one pattern at a time.

Sounds kind of complicated but it really goes fairly fast. If you can find the program that will rotate the G-Code directly you will still have to copy an paste the individual parts to get the master file. If you do find such a program be sure and post it on the forum!!!!

Good Luck,

Fred
